Congratulations to Ella Klusman for signing Thursday to play soccer next year at the College of Saint Mary! ---------------------- Pekny & Narmi are ON TO STATE!! Congratulations to Noah Narmi (So) & Cole Pekny (Sr) who qualified for the State Tennis yesterday in Denison!! Pekny & Narmi beat Audubon, North Polk & Kuemper Catholic in route to reaching the finals to guarantee their spot at State. Before a raucous crowd the Falcons led Kuemper 1-0, but then lost the 2nd set. In the 10 point tiebreaker to decide the match, the Falcons were down 1-5 and 5-7, but their communication & belief in themselves got them back into the match. The Falcons crawled back and took a 9-8 lead. With complete calmness, Cole dug deep inside and hit a risky cannon serve, which would be the equivalent of The Crane Kick in Karate Kid. A loud boom ensued, which may have been mistaken for thunder at the "It's a Wonderful Life" Water Tower. A complete silence fell upon the packed sideline, until the moment was realized of what was just witnessed. Ace Serve. The Falcons won 10-8, and had punched their ticket to the State Tournament! Noah and Cole were met at the gate exiting the Court with embraces and high-fives by their teammates, the crowd, and their new friends from Audubon, North Polk, Storm Lake, and Denison. A truly special and legendary way of punching your ticket to a State Tournament. ---------------------- Congratulations to Ben Krohn (Fr) for being the Medalist (winner) Wednesday at the Sectional Tourney in Onawa!! Krohn shot a 74 (+2) to get the impressive win! Krohn will move to the State Qualifier Monday in Anita - good luck, Ben! The rest of the Falcons concluded their season of significant growth and sadly say goodbye to Senior, Jonah Zuehlke (Center - white hat). ----------------- Congrats to Els Narmi (So) who was 2nd overall Wednesday at the AL Tourney! City and Conference Champs! ------------------------ Congrats to the Saint Albert Band led by Dr. Michael Beard for receiving a First Division Rating (Superior) at their big festival Friday evening!! Keep Sports Fun! What do young & older kids want after an event? Not to talk about it in the car ride home... they want ice cream!
