Thanksgiving News From Your SA Dance Team
Time to update you all on what the Dance Team has been up to.  First, the ladies would like to congratulate the Falcon Football team on their inspiring season and Class 1A championship.  While the boys were serving it up to their opponents, the Dance Team has been busy as well with practices, competitions and volunteer work.

State Solo/UNO competition
Many of you might have heard that the team was extremely busy the weekend of November 4th and 5th.  First, six team members, Nicole Schwartz, Mary Weidman, Jordyn Graham, Audrey Weidman, Molly Rooker and Allison Palmer made the trip to Pella, Iowa to compete in the Iowa State Solo Dance Competition.  The girls did exceptionally well with all six receiving Division one superior medals.  Senior Mary Weidman took the 3rd place trophy in class 1A with her jazz routine to the Barry Manilow classic, Copa Cabana.    Congratulations ladies!  Some very tired girls returned that night and on Sunday the team competed in the UNO dance competition in Omaha.  This competition is another way for the team to practice prior to state and make routine and  costume adjustments.  The dance team competed in jazz, pom and hip-hop and took second place for their Arabian themed jazz routine.   Unhappy with their performance, the team has hit their daily practices re-energized.

Lewis Central Showcase
Last night the team performed all three state routines at Lewis Central before a large crowd. The showcase featured dance teams from Abraham Lincoln, Lewis Central, Thomas Jefferson and Treynor.   SADT routines looked great with more energy, great showmanship and better technique.  The hard practicing is paying off for the ladies and by state competition they should be ready to defend their titles.  The team would like to thank the large crowd of family and friends for coming out to support them.  They always seem to do better the more the SA community is there to cheer them on.  Which leads me to……

Iowa State Dance/Drill Competition
On Friday December 1, our team of 18 girls will be heading to Des Moines to compete in pom, hip-hop and jazz in the Iowa State Dance Competition to be held in the Vets Auditorium.  Last year the team received two first place titles for hip-hop and pom and placed 2nd in jazz.  Competition for the team will begin Saturday morning at 8:57 a.m.  The team would love to see a large showing of their SA family and friends in Des Moines.  This competition is one of the largest, if not the largest high school dance/drill competitions in the nation.

The girls and Coach Guinan hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your family and friends.  Stay tuned to stalbertsportsfan.com for all your DT news and updated photos.  Until next time,
Keep Dancin!
