Neumann Sweeps Saintes in Home Opener

Posted: 09/22/2006 - by

Wahoo, Neb., Neumann spoiled the St. Albert volleyball team's home court opener Thursday night with a 25-13, 25-20, 25-18 decision.

"They had a new coach and we don't know much about their team so we went in blind," said St. Albert coach Angie Lantz. "We found out quick that they were solid all around and very athletic."

Taylor Russell, Aly Gorman and Becca Gradoville each had three kills for the Saintes.

"They really overwhelmed us in game one," Lantz. "The second two games were close."

Natalie Andrews and Lauren Kennebeck each added nine set assists in the match.

"We took them to four games last year so we had hoped to do better tonight," said Lantz. "They play a really tough schedule and they were ready for us tonight."

The Saintes second and final home contest will be Tuesday against Omaha Mercy.
