Logan- Magnolia storms by St. Albert

LOGAN - There were two storms on Friday night during Logan-Magnolia's 20-0 win over St. Albert.

The first was the Panther offense rolling to 20 points in the first two quarters before the thunderstorm hit at halftime delaying action until the next morning.

"It was difficult to have to come back and play the second half on Saturday," said Panther coach Matt Straight. "We got them up early and ran them around to work the kinks out."

Saturday's portion of the game was lack luster and neither team was able to score.

"Our focus was on keeping a 13-point lead for the district standings," said Straight. "There was no emotion on either side, but the result suits us fine."

Marshall Barney plowed for 89 yards on 22 carries and a touchdown and Collin Mann broke away for a 58-yard touchdown reception.

"Barney is the workhorse," said Straight. "Mann has really been a playmaker for us."

Dan Mikels, Mike Whisney and Chris Wilkens all got credit for their play on defense.

"Those three were really able to shut down the sweeps and the options," said Straight. "It allowed out linebackers to really plug up the middle."

Martin Gross completed five passes for 90 yards, including the scoring strike to Mann.

The Panthers head to play Riverside next week.

"Oakland is always a tough city to play in," said Straight. "Riverside is always big and physical, so we will heal up and be ready."
