S.C. East too much for Saintes

Sioux City East got past St. Albert, 10-1, Wednesday night in a prep softball game at St. Albert.

The Saintes made a game of it early against the Class 4A No. 9-ranked Black Raiders, who held a 4-0 lead after five innings.

"We played five very good inning of ball," St. Albert coach Katie Heithoff said.

Katie Devereaux went 2-for-3 for the Saintes. Trevour Yates added a triple and Justine Pogge had the other hit.

Heithoff also praised the defensive effort of Katie Gilliland in right field.

"She had a nice game in right field," she said.

The Saintes return to action tonight against Logan-Magnolia at home.
