Gina Assmann took just 60 minutes to rack up five goals for St. Albert Monday in the Saintes' 6-2 win over Abraham Lincoln in prep soccer action Monday at the C.B. Stadium Soccer Complex.

Assmann left the game following her final goal with 20 minutes to go and the game well in hand.

"Gina is just a remarkable athlete," said Saintes coach Randy Salyers. "She has the ability to take over the game."

Aided by a huge wind advantage, Assmann tallied three times in the first half to give her side a comfortable 3-0 halftime lead.

"We had no answer for her," said A.L. coach Andy Ruff. "She is so fast that it leaves little room for error."

The Lynx pushed 10 players forward all game to create offense and in the second half it finally paid dividends.

Bess Campbell bent her corner kick untouched into the St. Albert net for the Lynx first goal and Courtney Davis scored on a pass from Kacie Mass for the second.

"We started putting some passes together," said Ruff. "Our attack was not very good in the first half, so we improved as the game went on."

Assmann added two second-half goals and Rachel Showers got the sixth to complete the scoring.

"Marissa Finn and Lauren Wagner also played well," said Salyers. "It was a solid effort tonight."

It's the eighth win of the season for St. Albert against five losses, while the Lynx are still searching for their first win.

"We have a couple games at the end of the week," said Ruff. "We will just keep trying to improve and maybe we can win one."

The Saintes will play a weekend game against Denison-Schleswig.

"They have a good team," said Salyers. "It will help us gear up for the playoffs to face a tough team."
