The biggest play of the game for St. Albert in its 1-0 win over Abraham Lincoln Wednesday came from Bryce Kinard, the smallest player on the Falcon roster.

Kinard rose above a pack of Lynx defenders in the 70th minute to head home the only goal of the game in the Falcons' 1-0 win at the C.B. City Stadium Soccer Complex.

"He times his jumps well and works hard for position," said Falcon coach Tom Lorkovic. "He creates his chances."

The Lynx were on defense for most of the game.

"They completely shut our offense down," said Lynx coach Todd Devereaux. "Then the shortest guy on the field beats us with a header."

The Lynx aren't the first. Kinard has three goals this year, all on headers.

"He hustles and he gets some great crosses to work with," said Lorkovic. "Quinn Walsh was passing very well from the right side."

Walsh drove pass after pass in front of the Lynx net, finally finding Kinard for the winner after several near misses.

"We had several good chances right at the end of the first half," said Lorkovic. "We should have scored a couple more, but we will take the win."

The Lynx never threatened.

"Only one team showed up to play today and it wasn't us," said Devereaux. "We were tired from our game last night but so were they, so that doesn't cut it as an excuse."

The Falcons outlasted Sioux City East in a shootout Tuesday night and the Lynx scored twice in the second half to beat Sioux City West 2-1.

"I had hoped we would build a little momentum with the win," said Devereaux. "Back to the drawing board again for us."

For the Falcons, the two wins in two days give them a record of 10-5 for the season.

"It really helped to get those early tournament games in this season," said Lorkovic. "We continue to improve every game."
