They entered brimming with confidence, and with good reason.

They exited leaving a trail of tears, not the happy kind.

No. 2 Council Bluffs St. Albert's bid to become the first Iowa school to win five state titles in an eight-year span ended to powerful, opportunistic, undaunted No. 10 St. Ansgar Saturday, 25-15 at the UNI-Dome.

"It's not where we wanted to be,'' Falcon senior Zane Cozad said. "It wasn't our goal to make it, it was our goal to win it. But we didn't play mistake-free football, and against this team you can't do that.''
