Fremont Bergan trims Saintes...

Fremont Bergan swept past St. Albert 25-12, 25-22, 25-16 in prep volleyball action Tuesday at the St. Albert gym. "Fremont Bergan was beatable, but we didn't show our best effort at all," St. Albert coach Angie Lantz said. "If our team had showed up it would have been a great match. We definitely have some things to work on."

The second set was better than the first, coach Lantz said, but still wasn't quite good enough. The Saintes found their stride in the third set but too late to finish with a win.

Aileen Mooney led the Saintes with seven kills. Natalie Andrews had nine set assists, and Meghan Crowley added eight digs.

St. Albert hosts Lincoln Christian Thursday night in a best-of-three varsity "play-in" match for a berth in the eight-team Centennial Conference Tournament at Boys Town Saturday.

"We'll take one game at a time, and districts will be here before we know it," coach Lantz said. "We hope we're one of the eight teams playing Saturday."
