Falcons wear down Treynor, win 2-A district baseball final

Jeremy Petry isn’t a member of the clergy, but the way he preaches about two-strike hitting, his St. Albert baseball players might often wonder.

“We have been working on two-strike hitting ever since we started baseball this year,’’ junior Will VanSoelen said.

The sixth-rated Falcons put on a clinic Saturday in two-strike hitting. They forced Treynor starter Nick Paulsen to make 41 pitches in the fourth inning, and scored seven runs in the frame en route to a 10-1 victory over Treynor in a Class 2-A district final before a reporter-estimated 400 at the Cardinals’ diamond.
