Saint Albert BowlingWe hope that you enjoy the site and welcome your comments. 2022-2023 BowlingThe Falcon & Saintes Bowling Teams had their banquet Tuesday night at St. Patrick's. The teams celebrated each having their best seasons in school history! They each won the City Meet, the Hawkeye 10 Conference Tourney and their State Qualifying Meets. They each set school records for pins in a meet, the Falcons at 3,512 and the Saintes at 2,670. Evan White and Adam Denny each rolled 300 games. Each qualified 3 for Individual State with Jackson Wigington and Bailey Secrest winning the State Qualifier. Bailey Secrest finished 5th at State while Cole Pekny was a State Finalist and Adam Denny won back-to-back State Titles. And each team had their best State finish in school history with the Saintes taking 5th and the Falcons 3rd! Congrats to Adam Denny for winning his 2nd straight Fred Wager Memorial MVBowler and to Alexis Narmi for her 3rd straight Ken Mehsling MVBowler.
Tuesday at State: Saintes (Bailey Secrest, Georgie Bohnet & Alexis Narmi) & Falcon (Adam Denny, Jackson Wigington & Cole Pekny) Bowling in the State Individual Meet at Maple Lanes in Waterloo: 9am (Updates) - Everyone will bowl 3 games then the best 8 scores make the 8 person bracket. You'll then roll one game against your opponent to advance - Limited updates on Twitter - very weak internet in the building; (SA Bowling Hype Video) - 11:20am: Bailey Secrest (Fr) rolled a 265 in her 2nd game and is your #2 Seed after a 631 Series. Georgie Bohnet & Alexis Narmi did not qualify for the 8 person bracket. Adam Denny (Sr) is your defending State Champion. He rolled a gutter ball his first ball and then proceeded to roll a 769 series (256/game) which included a 279 game - he's your #1 seed. Cole Pekny (Jr) is your 3 seed after a 714 series. Jackson Wigington (Sr) won the State Qualifier - he was 9th overall today and missed the bracket by 5 pins. Bracket play will start about 11:35am. 1:35pm: Bailey, the only Freshman in the bracket, lost 204-203 in the Quarters. She had a great day and was even better Monday in the team Baker play! Cole Pekny and Adam Denny each won their Quarters - Cole with a 238 and Adam with a 246. In the Semifinals, Cole and Adam each rolled a 249 to win! In the Championship Match, Adam Denny repeated as the 1A State Champion over teammate, Cole Pekny by rolling a 267!! The last two years the Falcons have been unbeaten in the Holiday tournament, the City Tournament, the Bakers Bash, the Hawkeye 10 Conference Tournament and the State Qualifying Tournament. Quite a run... and it's not over!! The Saintes lost their Quarterfinal 3-1 to conference foe, Clarinda - who the Saintes beat a few weeks ago at Conference. Clarinda finished as the State Runner-up for the second consecutive year. Last spring the Saintes made State Golf for the first time and now they can hang another new banner On The Hill: State Bowling Qualifier! The Saintes had 5 in the top 6 in the individual qualifier and will send 3 to State Tuesday: Alexis Narmi 3rd, Georgie Bohnet 2nd & 2023 State Bowling Qualifying Meet Champion, Bailie Secrest! ---------- Hawkeye 10 History On The Hill: The ladies won the Hawkeye 10 Bowling Championship for the first time in Saintes history! Bailie Secrest (Fr) was 2nd, Georgie Bohnet (Jr) was 6th and Sophie Sheffield (Jr) was 3rd! The Saintes averaged 185 for their 5 Baker games that included a school record 224 fourth Baker and they rolled a school record 2,787! Evan White (Jr) was 2nd, Cole Pekny (Jr) was 10th and Jackson Wigington (Sr) was 4th as the Falcons went Back-to-Back in their 2023 Hawkeye Conference Bowling Championship! Fred Wager (holding ball) was a 1976 Saint Albert graduate who passed at an early age after a brief illness. He was a good, quiet young man who was a great left handed bowler. Your Ken Mehsling Saintes Most Valuable Bowlers were Alexis Narmi (Fr) and Madilynn Myers (So). This is the first year for the award and it's named after the founder of modern day Saint Albert Bowling, Coach Mehsling (shown) who retired last year. Coach Mehsling restarted the bowling program in the late 1990's/early 2000's. 1.22.21 Selfless Falcons Fly to Another New School Record: (L-R): Assistant Coach Justin Pekny, Evan White (Fr), Cole Pekny (Fr), Jackson Wigington (So), Jake Denny (Sr), Adam Denny (So), Hayden Piskorski (Jr) and Head Coach Mike Klusman. Normal varsity starters, Quinten Julian (Jr) and Nate Kay (Jr) volunteered to head to the JV Friday so the Falcons could get a couple of other guys into the Varsity lineup just in case they're needed in this crazy covid year. All the new lineup did was set a school record of 3,184 pins!!
