St. Albert can't overcome slow start

St. Albert dug itself into an inescapable hole Tuesday.
It cost the Falcons a state tournament berth.
The Class 2-A, No. 6 Falcons (24-8) committed four errors in the first inning in their substate final against No. 2 Van Meter at Jim Goeser Field. The poor defensive frame led to only two Bulldog runs, but St. Albert never seemed to get back on track en route to a 5-1 loss.
