The St. Albert family is saddened by the loss of Fred Herrington who passed away on Friday.  Fred was a St. Albert Grandpa who loved to watch his Grandchildren on 'The Hill'.  Please pray for his wife Bonnie and the entire Herrington family during this difficult time...

Fred Herrington

Frederick Lee Herrington, age 80, of Council Bluffs, passed away July 14, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Fred was born December 11, 1936, in Council Bluffs, to the late William and Ida (Taylor) Herrington. He attended Thomas Jefferson High with the class of 1956. Fred married Yvonne “Bonnie” Zach on June 6, 1958, in Council Bluffs. They were blessed with three sons, Dan, Scott and Tim. Fred was an iron worker; worked in sales for Iowa Rigger’s Loft and retired from Ed’s Rigging in Omaha, Neb. He was a member of the Army Reserves for 8 years; Iron Worker’s Local #21, and the American Legion Post #2 for 35-plus years.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Herrington; sisters, Evelyn Baldwin and Gwendolyn Jefferis.

Fred is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bonnie Herrington; sons, Dan (Lynn) Herrington, all of Council Bluffs, Scott (Jill) Herrington, of Elkhorn, Nebr., Tim (Tracy) Herrington, of Council Bluffs; grandsons, Matthew, Christopher, Justin and Joseph Herrington; granddaughters, Katie, Karissa, Lauren and Jessica Herrington; sister-in-law, Pam (Paul) Nerz; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation with the family, Monday, 6 to 8 p.m., at Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral service, Tuesday, 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment, Ridgewood Cemetery with a lunch following at the Masonic Temple. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or to the Phoenix House.
