Education Savings Account (ESA) - Informational Meeting

Dear Friends...
Last year I reported that a proposal has been made to the Iowa Legislature to establish Educational Savings Accounts (ESA). The bill (HF2090) was advanced from the Education Committee but did not make it to the whole for discussion. There is considerable work in progress to reintroduce ESAs in the next legislative session.
ESAs adjust the school funding mechanisms and allow parents to choose a school that they believe is a best fit for their children. Once a parent makes that decision, a portion of state funding would follow their child.
I invite you to attend an informational meeting to learn how families can benefit from ESAs. The meeting will be held at 6:30pm on Monday, November 24, in the Jr/Sr High Library.
The meeting will provide an explanation of Educations Savings Accounts and how they could assist all parents who elect to send their children to Saint Albert. There will be presentations by Trish Wilger, the Executive Director of the Iowa Alliance for Choice in Education (IA ACE) and Tom Chapman, the Executive Director of the Iowa Catholic Conference (IACC). These two groups were pivotal in the creation of the Catholic Tuition Organization (CTO) – and will be critical in establishing ESAs.
You will learn why your assistance is essential and how you can help convince our state legislators of the value and necessity, as well as a savings, to the state budget with the passage of Education Savings Accounts. The timing of this meeting is important as the legislative session will be upon us soon.
