2014 March Madness WinnersPosted: 04/14/2014 - by Charlie NarmiCongratulations to our 2014 St. Albert Alumni Association & stalbertsportsfan.com March Madness winners! A special congratulations to our winner, Tyler Ferguson, who joins our Hall of Champions!! We thank you all that joined our free tourney and especially thank the Alumni Association & the stalbertsportsfan sponsors who make this tournament possible every year. We hope you join us next year for our 10th annual tourney... 1st Place - $250: Tyler Ferguson Tyler is a 2009 graduate of St. Albert and is currently a Computer Science student at The University of Nebraska in Omaha. 2nd Place - $150: Sally Narmi Sally Narmi, wife of Hall of Fame Coach Joe Narmi (self proclaimed), was the highest-placed woman, and runner-up. Sally has four children in the St. Albert school system, from the day-care to the 6th grade. She is an Assistant Director of Tax for the Union Pacific Railroad. Sally would have had added her name to the Hall of Champions if the last second shot by Wisconsin would have gone in. BUT, Sally is no stranger to last-second shot disappointment. As a 1992 graduate of Hull-Western Christian, Sally was present at Veterans Auditorium in 1989 as a freshman, when Chad Kavars sank “The Shot” as time expired to send St. Albert into the championship game and end another state title run by the boys of Hull-Western. Ironically, two of Sally’s kids (Sam and Allison), and two of Chad’s kids (Kate and Jack) are now classmates. “The Shot”, despite winning numerous state basketball and volleyball championships since, is still a very-very sore topic of conversation with the people of Hull-Western... 3rd Place - $100: Jeff Nelson I am blessed to have Carrie, who is my beautiful wife of 17 years, our children; Cole (16), Gabriella (14..almost), and Coburn (12). Now a little more about me, I’m a Capricorn who savors moonlight cruises on the lake. I enjoy a spirited game of Canasta, I am also particularly fond of an ice cold tumbler of Fresca. People often tell me that at first I seem shy, but with time, my warm and open spirit will gently and tacitly emanate out revealing my patient and prudent self-dom. I enjoy frequently quoting fine films and television programs; any of the Will Ferrell classics, also Caddyshack, Tombstone, Seinfeld, and Saturday Night Live (Matt Foley motivational speaker is a personal favorite). I guess if you sum this all up, Carrie is one lucky lady! PS – Anyone else thinking Speedo for the St Albert Benefit Auction Beach Party 2014? 4th Place - $80: David Beseda No Picture, bio or address provided... 5th Place - $60: Stephen O'Neill Steve is a 2011 graduate of St. Albert, a Junior at Morningside College and starts on the Varsity basketball team. He is majoring in Business Administration with a Math & Coaching Minor. Steve plans to go to mortuary school and to join the family business, Cutler-O'Neill Funeral Home and to also volunteer coach at St. Albert someday - like his Dad did for 19 years at the 7th grade level. 6th Place - $40: Bennett Gronstal Bennett is 11 years old and a 5th grader at St. Albert (Class of 2021). He enjoys basketball, football and baseball.
