Falcons take 3rd at District meet...

"This was a very tough district ... I'm glad to qualify in three events," Fischer said. "I feel like I've been running pretty well at the end of the season, and I'm looking forward to state."

Fischer is no stranger to the state meet, earning seven state medals in his first three years in a St. Albert uniform.

"Brandon's a big-meet runner," St. Albert coach Drew Kruzich said. "He runs well throughout the year, but he always seems to focus and do his best at big meets."

The Falcons received a bit of a surprise in the high jump, where freshman Marc Baumert qualified by placing third.

"I've got to hand it to Marc, we had to completely break him down and start him over in the high jump this year, and he's done a great job," Kruzich said. "Competing at state will be a good experience for him."
