The St. Albert family is saddened by the passing of Jim McGruder last week.  Jim was a 1974 St. Albert graduate and his 3 daughters, Carrie, Katie and Kellie graduated in the 90's and 2000's.  Please keep them in your prayers during this very difficult time, please also keep Jim's wife, Betty, in your prayers in the months to come and please pray for the repose of Jim's soul...

Eternal rest grant unto Jim O Lord: And let perpetual light shine upon him.

Jim McGruder

James F. McGruder, age 62, passed away November 2, 2018, at his home in Council Bluffs.

He was born December 13, 1955, in Council Bluffs, to the late John “Jack” and Sarah “Sally” (Cottmire) McGruder. Jim graduated from St. Albert High School, with the class of 1974, and began a career of over 40 years with the Union Pacific Railroad as a Locomotive Engineer, retiring in 2016. Jim was united in marriage to his wife Betty in 1984, and together raised three daughters, Carrie, Katie and Kellie. Jim was an avid tennis player and Harley Davidson enthusiast. He loved his golfing, blues music, flying planes, and most of all, being a dad to his girls, and grandpa to his five grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his infant brother, David; father, Jack McGruder in 1983; mother, Sally McGruder-Farrage in 2016; stepfather, Dr. Edward Farrage in 2000.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Betty A . McGruder; daughters, Carrie McGruder Fischer and husband, Doug of Crescent, Iowa, Katie L .McGruder of Council Bluffs, Kellie Poen and husband, Nick of St. Peters, Missouri; 5 grandchildren, Izzy, Caleb, Kylie, Evelyn and Jacquelyn; brothers, Mark McGruder and wife, Janet, John McGruder and wife, Rita, Dan McGruder and wife, Jodi; stepbrother, George Farrage and wife, Mary, all of Council Bluffs, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation on Tuesday, November 6th from 4-8pm at Cutler-O'Neill Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home.

Funeral on Wednesday, November 7th at 11am at Cutler-O'Neill Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home with a luncheon to follow at Corpus Christi's Queen of Apostles Church Hall.

Memorials to the CDLS Foundation and Iowa School for the Deaf.
