Lynx end Falcon's night early

Kyle Suder needed just 68 pitches to shut out St. Albert Wednesday night as Abraham Lincoln blanked the Falcons 10-0 in a five-inning intra-city prep baseball game at City Park.

Suder fired a two-hitter for the Lynx, striking out five and walking two for his third win in as many games.

"He's gone the distance in all three of those starts too," A.L. coach James Larson said of Suder. "He's been really efficient and has really stepped up for us in that regard."

The Lynx wasted no time in getting a lead Wednesday, scoring three runs in the first and two more each in the second, third and fourth.

It was senior night for Abraham Lincoln, and Jeff Regan put a fitting end to the game.

Regan, a senior, came up to the plate to pinch hit in the fifth inning and came up with a single to bring home John Wolfe for the 10th and final A.L. run of the night, bringing the game to a close via the mercy rule.

All 10 seniors saw time in the game for the Lynx, who trimmed St. Albert 9-7 in both teams' first game of the season back in May.

"Our guys have been playing great baseball the last six-to-eight games," Larson said. "As far as learning the game, our players have come a long way since the first two weeks of the season, and I'm proud of their effort tonight."
