Falcons pick up a pair of victories

St. Albert scored two baseball victories in two days, defeating Clarinda 3-1 at home Friday night and shutting out Boyer Valley 11-0 at Dunlap Thursday.

Against visiting Clarinda, Ben Whelan and Patrick Fetter each went 2-for-3 at the plate. Fetter drove in one run.

"Richie Moore pitched an outstanding game," Falcons coach Ken Schreiber said. "He did a great job and had great control."

Moore had six strikeouts and walked two.

Against Boyer Valley, Doug Moran pitched his first no-hitter for five innings, striking out eight batters and walking only one. He also helped his own cause with a 4-for-4 showing at the plate with a home run and two runs batted in.

Ben Whelan was 3-for-4 against the Bulldogs with one RBI. Patrick Fetter was 3-for-3.
