Assman, Vermillion earn All-State Soccer Honors

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released the 2006 All-State Girls Soccer Teams with southwest Iowa players being well represented.

All four city schools placed at least one athlete on the lists, while 11 SWI players in total were honored by the IGHSAU.

Thomas Jefferson senior Val Robinson leads the way with her first-team selection in Class 2A.

T.J. midfielder Shilo Stockton garnered second-team 2A status, and Gina Assmann of St. Albert was named to the second-team in Class 1A.

Glenwood's Laura Leber and Denison-Schleswig's Nicole Clausen also earned second team honors in Class 1A.

Bess Campbell of Abraham Lincoln and Jenny Shadden of T.J. earned 2A honorable mention status.

Molly Vermillion of St. Albert was named Honorable Mention in 1A.

Lewis Central, who qualified for the state tournament for the first time in school history this spring, had two players on honorable mention in Class 1A.

Freshman Tori VonMende and senior Katie Archibald were both 2A selections.

Denison-Schleswig's Lindsay Swanson also earned 2A honorable mention honors.
