2017 Field Crew ReportPosted: 11/02/2017 - by Charlie NarmiThe Football Field Crew (FC) concluded its successful 2017 season Wednesday night. In addition to the usual cleanup, we made improvements to the press box, concession stand and spirits store. The FC wants to thank Randy Salyers, John Helton & Greg Johnson for their attention to Al Leber Field; we are happy to supplement their efforts. Before our first-ever awards ceremony began, we discussed the retirement plan from FC. We affirmed that the only route to leave FC runs through Cutler-O’Neill Funeral Home & Crematory. Probably a nicer way to say this is that, ‘membership is for life’.
Now to the awards… people love award shows, right? 2017 Newcomer of the Year: Matt Wilber (moving to CB sealed the deal)
Special Contribution: Kelly’s Carpet Omaha and Tommy Hughes (for donated press box carpet & installation)
Ramrod: Jeff Carley (this space left intentionally blank)
… and the coveted… Green & Gold Weedeaters of the Year: Tom Liston and Jeff Watson
They both earned the mythical trophy (because we didn’t have real ones) for meritorious service to field and country. We wisely issued them keys so they could work outside regularly scheduled sessions. (Smart, huh?) Seriously, these guys crushed it. Camaraderie was at near-record levels in 2017 and the long-range forecast calls for more of the same in 2018. Please consider joining us next July. We have more improvements & maintenance planned. Fun, labor & fellowship guaranteed to ensue. Matt Madsen -ARCHIVES- |
