The St. Albert and St. Patrick's Parish community is sorry to hear of the loss of Elaine (Konz) Campbell who passed away on Tuesday after a long, courageous battle against cancer.  Elaine was a 1975 St. Albert graduate and very involved at St. Patrick's Parish.  Please keep Elaine's entire family in your prayers during this very difficult time and please pray for the repose of her soul...

Mary Elaine Campbell, age 59, of Council Bluffs, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017, after a long and arduous battle with breast cancer surrounded by her family and friends.

Elaine was born on May 14, 1957, in Council Bluffs, to Ervin Konz and the late Ruth (Ausdemore) Konz. She graduated from St. Albert High School (1975), received her B.A. from Clarke College (1979), and a Master’s of Science in Reading from UNO (1987). Elaine taught in the Bellevue Public School system for 33 years retiring in 2012. During her tenure, Elaine taught special education, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and reading. She served as a Language Arts facilitator and served on a variety of committees both building and district wide. During her later teaching years and after retirement, she enjoyed working at Barnes and Noble, and supervising student teachers at UNO. In her leisure time she enjoyed scrapbooking, traveling, reading, gardening and spending time with her treasured grandchildren. Elaine and Gilbert Campbell were united in marriage on March 1, 1980, at St. Patrick's Church in Neola, Iowa. They were blessed with two children, Glen and Gina, and raised their family in Council Bluffs.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth; her in-laws, Agnes and Glen Campbell.

She is survived by her husband, Gilbert; son, Glen and his wife, Jenn and their two children, Cole and Harper; her daughter, Gina and her spouse, Jan and their son, Gilbert and Jan's daughter, Maya; and her father, Ervin. She is also survived by her sister, Marcia (Chuck Dusing); her brothers, Don Konz and Ken Konz (Katherine); her brother-in-law, Don; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Tom Roushar), and Judy (Mark Francois); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation with the family Thursday, March 16, 2017, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with Recitation of the Rosary at 6 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral Mass Friday, March 17, at 10:30 a.m., at Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church, 3304 4th Avenue, with Father Glen Wilwerding officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow the service in the Church Social Hall. Interment in Memorial Park Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Memorials will be directed by the family.
