Summer News From Dance Team Headquarters!

Posted: 05/15/2006 - by

I haven't given the fans an update from your SA Dance Team in quite awhile, so I attended their meeting last night to give you all the skinny on what the new team is up to.  First of all, have you been introduced to the new members of your 2006-2007 team?  Check out the team picture on the DT page.  Our new team is made up of talented seniors, Mary Weidman, Natalie Andrews, Nicole Schwartz, Leslie Recher and Katie Gilliland.  Juniors are Amanda Burkey, Nicole Evezic, Jordyn Graham and Audrey Weidman.  Sophs are Molly Rooker, Lauren Kennebeck, Amanda Biller, Liz Hoebelheinrich and Allison Palmer.  New freshman are Jessica Pearce, Katie Coughlin, Elizabeth Culjat and Ali Theulen.  The team will be hard at work soon with practices starting in the end of May.

Did you know DT is participating in the hugely popular Forest Glen neighborhood sale on Saturday, May 20th?  They will be hard at work in the Biller family's driveway working the sale.  Any proceeds, will be donated directly to the team to aid in paying for choreography and costumes.  So ck out the Biller's driveway on Forest Glen Drive!

CAR WASH ALERT!!  Oh, yeah...what is summer without high school car washes?  The SADT will be holding their first car wash on Saturday, June 3rd.  Location to be announced.  So come out with your dirty vehicles and let the girls work their magic.  Cost is a donation to the team.  No car is too big or dirty for these ladies to handle!  Can't make this one, the ladies have two more car washes in the works.

The team will be attending the Iowa State Dance Camp in mid July and will be soon learning their new camp routine beginning May 27.  Did you know that the team practices every morning from 6:30-8:30 sharp during the summer months.  They also have extra techinical practices at least one night a week and some extra weekend practices thrown in there, where they learn new choreography.  WHEW!  Talk about dedication to their sport!  How about the dedication and devotion of the parents who have to get them up and/or drag them up the hill each morning??  Believe me, it's not easy getting a teen up at the crack of dawn.  Dance Team is not all work tho, the girls have a lot of fun and do get some small breaks to enjoy their summer too.  All work and no play, does not make for a happy teenage girl.

Well, that's about it for now.  Stay tuned to stalbertsportsfan.com for Dance Team news, pictures and activitiy alerts.  Until next time, enjoy your summer, stay safe and keep dancin!!
