Darlene EybergThe St. Albert family is saddened by the loss of Darlene Eyberg who passed away earlier this week. Darlene & her loving husband, Hugo, had children & grandchildren graduate from St. Albert.  Please say a special prayer today for the repose of Darlene's sould and please keep the entire Eyberg/McDonald/Devereaux family in your prayers.

Eternal rest grant unto Darlene o' Lord: And let perpetual light shine upon her.

E. Darlene Eyberg (Varnes), age 82, of Whiting, Iowa, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 24, 2015, surrounded by her family.

Darlene was born October 24, 1932, on the family farm at Little Sioux, Iowa. The daughter of Edwin and Hazel (Thomas) Benetti. She lived most of her life on the farm and graduated from Mondamin High School in 1950. She attended business school and worked at Multigraph Sales in Omaha, where she met and worked with her future sister-in-law, Wanda who introduced her to the love of her life. Darlene and Hugo A. Eyberg were married January 30, 1952 in Clarinda, Iowa, on a beautiful sunny day. They originally settled in Orson, Iowa and soon moved to Council Bluffs and raised their five children.

Darlene's religious beliefs, along with the strength and love of her husband helped her to endure her 40 plus years battle with M.S.

Darlene enjoyed being a homemaker and spending time with family and friends, making cookies with her grandchildren. She was a lifetime member of the catholic faith. Darlene and Hugo enjoyed traveling and exploring the United States, visiting over 30 states and Canada.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Hazel Benetti; grandson, Terry Wenninghoff; son-in-law, Richard (Dick) Devereaux; grandparents, Elmer and Edna (Little) Thomas; aunts, uncles and cousins.

She will be greatly missed by her husband of 63 years, Hugo, of Whiting; children, Cindy (Bob) McDonald, of Underwood, Iowa, Michael Eyberg, of Council Bluffs, Chris Eyberg, of Moorhead, Iowa, Susan Devereaux, of McClelland, Iowa, Peggy Eyberg Clark, of Mondamin, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Wake service Wednesday, 6 p.m., followed by visitation until 8 p.m., at funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, 10 a.m., at Holy Family Church in Mondamin. Interment Little Sioux Cemetery followed by a luncheon back at church. Memorials are suggested to Multiple Sclerosis-Midlands Chapter.
