Falcons outkick Riverside

Freshman Blake Fostevedt found the net on a corner kick giving St. Albert a double-overtime victory over Riverside Monday in a boys prep soccer game at the C.B. Recreation Complex.

Fostevedt's goal with five minutes left in the second overtime frame ended the Falcons' first home game with a victory in the wind-marred contest.

"It was more like moon ball than soccer," St. Albert coach Tom Lorkovic said. "It was pretty ugly ... it was just one of those nights."

The Falcons controlled the ball most of the windy night, and out-shot the Bulldogs 21-5.

Cameron Tucker earned his fourth shutout of the season, while Jacob Dew, C.J. Gradoville, Nate Kruse and Mike Hoffman earned honors for their defensive effort.

"They did a real nice job overall," Lorkovic said.

Lorkovic said the Riverside club was the best he'd seen in seven years on the St. Albert sideline.

The win moves the Falcons to 5-1 on the year, with a week off before returning to action against Sloan Westwood.

"It's a good start to the season," Lorkovic said. "But we have a lot of tough games yet coming up."

Riverside 0 0 0 0 - 0

St. Albert 0 0 0 1 - 1

Record: St. Albert (5-1).
