Joe GroteThe St. Albert family mourns the loss of Joe Grote who passed away Saturday. Joe & his wife Lorraine had all 7 of their kids graduate from St. Albert and also some of their grandchildren. Their kids & the year they graduated:

Patty (Willard): 1969, Mike: 1970, Bob: 1972, Jan (Craft): 1974, Norma (Weiss): 1979, Rick: 1982, and Fred: 1986.

Eternal rest grant unto Joe o' Lord: And let perpetual light shine upon him.

May Joe rest in peace. Amen

May Joe's soul and the souls of all the faithfully departed through the mercy of God our Father rest in peace. Amen

Joe Grote

Joseph R. Grote, age 85, Neola, Iowa, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Fox Run Assisted Living.

He was born October 11, 1928, in Neola, Iowa, to Joseph and Rosalia (Talty) Grote and a graduate of St. Joseph High School in 1936.

He was united in marriage to Lorraine Schnitker on February 8, 1950. Joe was a longtime farmer and member of St. Patrick’s Church, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, and also drove the school bus for Underwood and Tri-Center Schools. Joe also served in the National Guard.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Lorraine, April 29, 1986.

Survivors include his children and spouses, Patty (Craig) Wil lard, of San Antonio, Texas, Jan (Rick) Craft, of Neola, Norma (Rod) Weiss, of Lenexa, Kan., Mike Grote, of Council Bluffs, Bob (Lori) Grote, of West Des Moines, Iowa, Rick (Joanne) Grote, Fred (Annette) Grote, all of Neola; 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; sister, Gloria (Ethan) Jacobsen, of Denver, Colo.; brother, Jack (Mary) Grote, of Sargent Bluff, Iowa; aunt, Mary Martin, of Council Bluffs; and uncle, Harry Grote, of Fallbrook, Calif.

Rosary Recitation Monday, 6 p.m., with visitation to follow at St. Patrick Church, Neola. Funeral Mass Tuesday, 10 a.m., at St. Patrick’s Church in Neola. Interment Neola, Iowa with luncheon to follow back at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the church and St. Albert Schools.
