A black cat crossed the road in front of JD Culjat on his way home from practice Thursday.

The St. Albert senior had time to stop before reaching its path, then began to reconsider his route.

“I can’t do it,” he told his younger brother and teammate, Tucker. “Not before state.”

Culjat backed into a driveway, turned around and took a longer way home.
