Saint Albert Catholic Schools would like to inform the Saint Albert community that Mrs. Jonna Andersen will be retiring as the Jr/Sr High Principal at the end of the 2011-2012 school year. Although we will greatly miss Jonna in this position, we are excited to announce she will be serving in a new half-time role as Junior High Advisor for the 2012-2013 school year.

This new position will allow Saint Albert to better prepare junior high students as they make the sometimes difficult transition between elementary and high school. As the Junior High Advisor, Jonna will assist students with scheduling, teach different courses, resolve minor disciplinary issues, and help students adjust and succeed at the junior high level. Her passion for our school’s mission and her tireless dedication to the students make her a wonderful fit for this position.

“I am so pleased to be back working with the junior high students, which has always been my first love,” Jonna said. “I am excited to embark on this new challenge that will benefit our school and our students.”

“In this position, Jonna will bring such a positive contribution to the Saint Albert community,” said President Joe Connolly. “We are grateful to keep Jonna as a member of the Saint Albert staff and as a part of our family.”

Jonna joined the Saint Albert family in 1977 as a part-time business teacher. Jonna’s caring commitment and compassion to the students and the school made her a natural choice for the Junior High Coordinator in 1992. Under Jonna’s leadership, the junior high school flourished into a high-quality academic program and faith-filled environment.

In 2001, Jonna applied for the position of Jr/Sr High Principal and the Area Board of Catholic Education appointed her as the new administrator. As Jr/Sr High Principal, Jonna guided Saint Albert to excellence in academics and athletics as well as instilled a strong sense of spirituality and pride in our students and staff.

As Jonna prepares for her new role as Junior High Advisor, the Area Board of Catholic Education will create a search committee with the intent of starting the search for a new Jr/Sr High Principal as soon as possible.

“We are very appreciative of Jonna for not only taking on this new role that will be extremely valuable to our students and junior high program, but also for making her extensive knowledge and experience available to the new Jr/Sr High Principal,” said President Connolly.

We anticipate the 2012-2013 school year to be one of exciting change and fruitful progress! We are excited for Jonna to excel in this new position that will greatly benefit the school and our students, and we thank her for her outstanding service and devotion to the school, the students, the staff, and the community.
