My annual disclaimers: I am not a professional writer.  I'm sure I missed a story or two; If I did, I am truly sorry...

Brennan McNitt, Scott Moran, Marco Naughton & Wyatt Lewis all went 5-0 at the St. Albert Wrestling Invite – the Falcons took 3rd overall.

Sophomore Nevada Meis had 6 points, 18 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 blocks and 2 sprained ankles in a 46-38 overtime win over Underwood in January.  Nevada’s 18 rebounds was good enough for 3rd most ever in a game.

The Falcons took 2nd out of 9 teams at the Mt. Ayr Team Dual Tournament in January.  Brennan McNitt, Scott Moran & Marco Naughton all went 6-0 and were named to the All-Tourney Team.

At the MAC Shoot-Out in January, Frosh Kylie Ferguson had 24 points and 10 rebounds in a 49-43 win against then 11-3 Missouri Valley.

At the same MAC Shoot-out, the Falcons beat 11-2 Tri-Center 84-51.  Mickey Russell had 17 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.

In January the Falcons basketball team was ahead of an opponent 34-0 in the middle of the 2nd quarter.  Just 14 hours later, the Freshmen Falcons were ahead of an opponent 45-0 at the half.

Steve O’Neill scored 30 points in the Centennial Conference Tourney Quarter-Finals to help the Falcons upset C1 #7 Wahoo Bishop Neumann 66-63.  In the Semi’s O’Neill had 28 points for the Falcons who fell to C2 #1 Fremont Bergan 56-53.

In January at the Audubon Tournament Brennan McNitt became the school’s all-time career win leader for wrestling with 153 wins.  Here’s McNitt's record setting career by year as of last January: Freshmen: 28-10; Sophomore 41-4; Junior 44-4; Senior 40-1.  At the same tourney, Marco Naughton became just the 9th Falcon ever to reach 100 career wins.  It’s especially impressive considering he’s wrestled heavyweight his entire career.

Freshman Wyatt Lewis, Junior Marco Naughton & Senior Brennan McNitt all qualified for Districts.  From there Marco Naughton took an impressive 5th at State and Brennan McNitt – well more on Brennan later…

Falcon Soccer Coach, Tom Lorkovic, in March was inducted into the Iowa State Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame!

The Falcon Basketball Team closed their regular season in style by winning at Harlan 76-65.  It was the 1st Falcon victory against Harlan since 2000.

After winning the District Title, Senior, Sean Mahoney, became just the 4th St. Albert student to ever compete in the State Bowling Tournament.  He bowled a 202 average at State, which was good enough for 17th place out of 74 bowlers!

The Falcons won the Clarinda Team Title at the Clarinda Relays.  The Falcons won the 800, 1,600 & 3,200 relay in addition to Matt Vermillion winning the 800.

Former St. Albert science teacher, Bruce Chubick, led Omaha South to the Nebraska State Basketball Tourney.  His opening round opponent was Omaha Bryan who is coached by 1973 St. Albert grad, Tim ‘Boomer’ Cannon.

Congrats to the following St. Albert students who all competed at the State Swim Meet: Molly Martin, Peter Jacobsen, Pat Martin, Nick Allmon, Ben Kurz & Jim Hawk.  A special congrats to Kurz & Hawk who both placed at State and helped set school records in their respective events!

Former Sainte soccer player, Gabby Welch, after an extensive interview process, became the manager for the Nebraska Cornhusker soccer team.

Steve O’Neill scored 3 goals late in the second half to beat A.L. 3-2 in a City matchup in April.

On June 24th, the TJ Softball Team beat the Saintes 12-1.  On June 29th, the Saintes came back and beat TJ 1-0 for Coach Melissa Fidone's 50th win.  It was especially sweet for Coach Fidone because she started her coaching career at TJ.

With just 12 girls on the Saintes Track Team they still managed to take 2nd at Districts.  Strong performances came from: Nevada Meis who won the high jump; Lexi Graham, Catie Faust, Kylie Ferguson & Becca Hilderbrand won the 4x400 and set a meet record in the process.  Kylie Ferguson, Emma Munger, Lexi Graham & Catie Faust won the Distance Medley Relay & the Sprint Relay of Lexi Graham, Emma Munger, Catie Faust & Kylie Ferguson won as well.

1975 graduate, Dick Wettengel, returned to St. Albert sports when he was hired in the summer as the new Saintes Basketball Coach.  At the Christmas break, the Saintes are currently 5-2.

The Falcon cross country team scored an astonishingly low 25 points on their way to the AHST Team Title!

Former St. Albert football coaches, Adam Kuhl & Greg Gentile, helped lead the Platteview football team to the State Finals in Nebraska.

Much needed infield work was completed at Wolever Baseball Field when new sod was put down in the late fall/early winter.  Before the work, the infield had major elevation changes within the infield, major lips on the edges near the corners as well as some distance and height issues.  A special thanks goes to Peter Finn & Darin Hecker who were instrumental in the implementation and completion of this project - including donating of their own resources and getting others to donate their time, talent and treaure as well: Mike Gillett (SA Class of 1987) for final grading work, Jason Downing with Accurate Lawn & Irrigation for irrigation work and Lyle Clark for the use of his skid loader - the project cost St. Albert NO money.  Thanks as well to Coaches Jim Lovely & Jeremy Petry and Roger Gantt, Gary Petry & Andy Biller who also helped.

Connor Thomas’ punting ability is getting D1 & D2 attention after he broke the 1A Championship Game Punting Record (Co-Owned by Andrew Brown from SA (2010)) with a booming punt of 67 yards and a 50 yards a punt average in the finals.

Jake Gentile & Andrew Brown both signed Scholarship offers to play for South Dakota State University in 2011.  Gentile played for the Jackrabbits this fall and Brown will head to campus this spring.  Matt Waters signed to play for Frank Solich at Ohio University.  Congrats & well done to all.

Marco Naughton set the school squat record this summer.  youtube it to see the bar bending feat.
