Saintes Top Bulldogs

It wasn't pretty, but as they say "a win is a win."  The St. Albert girls team started out fairly strong offensively in the game, but hit a cold spell in quarters two and three.  After holding a slim lead of 20-17 at halftime, the Bulldogs gained some momentum and had the girls down by 6 early in the 4th quarter.  Fortunately, they got it together with some full court pressure, regained the lead, and held on for a 44-40 victory.

Karissa Herrington hit a couple of clutch 3-pointers in the second half and the return of Nevada Meis (sporting a mask to protect a broken nose) was also a big lift.  Meis finished with 12 points and 7 boards while Herrington netted 7 points.  Sophomore Kylie Ferguson led the attack with 18 points and 13 rebounds.  It's definitely a learning experience and several girls saw action in the game - which is key.  If the girls can learn from their mistakes (mostly turnovers) this team can do some damage throughout the season. Next up for the Saintes is Treynor on Saturday (12/17) at 4 p.m.
