Prior to the opening kickoff of the fall, Jim Duggan firmly believed that Alex Reed would be among the best football players in Council Bluffs by the end of the season.
After witnessing a breakout performance that produced more than 2,500 total yards and 27 touchdowns, the Lewis Central coach considers his junior among the city’s all-time elite.
“From a football standpoint, he’s as good as any player of the year that’s ever been nominated,” Duggan said. “I’m not saying that he’s the best, but he ranks right up there with the best of the best. He’s a fierce competitor.”
