Saintes run past Tigers

St. Albert’s defense continued its strong play Thursday with a 50-32 home victory over Red Oak.

The Saintes have allowed only 49 points combined in their first two contests, and that’s a positive trend in the eyes of coach Dick Wettengel.

“I’m really happy with the progress we’re making defensively,” he said. “Right now, that’s the best part of our game. We’re really playing good defense.

“We got off to a good, quick start tonight. I told the girls after that game that defense carried us, and we had enough offense in the first half to make a decisive run.

Kylie Ferguson led the winners with 19 points and added eight boards.
