Falcons Sweep In Duals

Posted: 01/27/2006 - by

What a great night for Falcon wrestling! The Falcons won both duals -

St. Albert 43 – West Harrison 28
St. Albert 46 – Underwood 27

Great wrestling!

This was also a night for first times and last times:

• It was the last time for seniors - Patrick Fetter, T.J. Masker, and Cale Yates on the Falcon mat. These seniors have done a great job leading the youthful Falcons this year and will continue to do so going into home stretch of the season.

• This was the first (and last) home triangular of the season for 2006

• Brad Golwitzer made his first appearance on the mat. Golwitzer started wrestling mid-season and is welcomed addition to the team. The team may even have two Golwitzer’s wrestling next year.

• Steven Nielsen made his first appearance on the mat. Nielsen broke his femur in football practice just before the state playoffs. He was not slated to return this year but Nielsen had a goal to make it back to the mat and he did it!

• This was the first time but not the last time a home triangular was broadcasted live over the Internet.

• This was the first time the Falcon wrestlers threw out t-shirts to the fans – a great way for the Falcon wrestlers to say “thanks” to the fans.

Speaking of fans – what an incredible turnout! It has been a long time since that size of a crowd turned out for wrestling – truly awesome!

There is still a lot of wrestling left to go in the season and the Falcons have the momentum to make some noise in sectionals and beyond.

The Falcons will be in action on Saturday at the Skutt Tourney in Omaha.
