St. Albert upset in 1A Championship

The Council Bluffs, Saint Albert Falcon football team will have to settle for the runner-up trophy this year.
The Falcons lost to Saint Ansgar in the Class 1A State Championship game on Saturday morning, 25-15. The Saints got off to a fantastic start. After recovering a JD Culjat fumble, they marched just 16 yards on five plays to take the lead on a Cael Halfman quarterback sneak. The extra point was blocked, however, and they led 6-0.
After a St. Albert three and out, St. Ansgar went 73 yards and scored on the 11th play - a John Sievert 1-yard run. Again, the Saints failed on the conversion to take a 12-0 lead. The score stayed that way into halftime, but Saint Ansgar struck first again with a 93-yard kickoff return by Kyle Hanson to start the second half to take an 18-0 lead.
It wasn't until then that St. Albert finally was able to mount an offense drive and put a score on the board. On the 12th play of the next drive, Kellen O'Neill...
