Lincoln Christian ousts Saintes

LINCOLN, Neb. - Lincoln Christian ousted St. Albert in the opening round of the Centennial Conference girls Basketball Tournament Monday night.

The Crusaders jumped ahead 23-5 after the game's first eight minutes and went on to a 63-51 win.

"We got off to a big start," Lincoln Christian coach C.H. Hagstrom said.

The Saintes had another big game from senior Gina Assmann, who finished with 21 points.

"Gina is like a blur out there," Hagstrom said of the swift Assmann.

Senior Aileen Mooney added 15 points for St. Albert.

Dani Buhr had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Crusaders, who advance to play Fremont Bergan in the quarterfinal round Tuesday at Fremont, Neb.
