Happy Anniversary To Us!

Consider this our 1st Annual State of The Site address…

Have you ever had a birthday or anniversary that just plain crept up on you and then, all of a sudden – BAM! – where’d that come from?

Well, that just happened to Charlie and I. Today, 1/11, marks our first year anniversary as co-owners of stalbertsportsfan.com.

A week or so ago I was paying some of the bills we had accumulated (yes, it does cost us money to operate this site) and stumbled across the receipt for our original purchase of this domain. It caught Charlie and myself totally by surprise; it had never even crossed our minds that an entire year had passed since we launched this strange, yet exciting, entity on the SA faithful.

To be sure, tons of new things have happened since last January. The biggest and best has to be the addition of Live Video broadcasting from our gymnasium. Wow! As the guys responsible for bringing this technology to you, we still can’t stop saying “how cool is this”? It’s unbelievable to me that a small, private high school in the Heartland of America has the ability to showcase their institution and students live around the world. How many high schools in the entire nation can boast to have something so cool and cutting-edge? Heck, few colleges are even doing this.

One important point I’d like to make is as we celebrate this occasion is that, just like the guy from Hair Club for Men, we’re not just the owners, but we’re fans. If we didn’t have a stake in it or lived outside the area, we’d still be all over this. As a true SA fan, this site is right up our alley for keeping tabs on our alma mater. And that’s the point after all, isn’t it? Promoting the great place that is St. Albert and the people within it?

We think this new video capability is outstanding. We love checking out the new pics put up in the gallery. We enjoy reading the various student journals and seeing who the All-Time Falcon & Sainte record holders are in different sports.

But what we like isn't nearly as important as what you like. And dislike. What do you want to see more of? Less of (besides Charlie's columns)? What things can make this site even better?

We really do want to know. Drop us line in either the Feedback section (which only we read) or in the Guestbook (everyone can read). We’ll see what we can do to make it happen.

We're getting better at fine-tuning the site but we're serious about putting up what you want. When I say it’s our anniversary I mean it’s OUR anniversary, in a SA worldly sort of way. So make it yours and let us know what you think.

It’s no small undertaking to keep this site fresh and interesting on a daily basis. Charlie and I have been blessed to work with some unbelievable volunteers who also want nothing more than to promote SA in a positive way and see this site as a wonderful vehicle to do that. If I start mentioning names, I’ll most certainly forget somebody. But you see them. They’re at the game broadcasting or running the equipment or taking pictures or adding info to the columns or doing a host of things that need to be done to make this site so cool. Without them, it couldn’t be done.

Let’s also not forget the sponsors who pony-ed up the money to help get this thing started. Their willingness to help showcase the students and SA sports is what prompted many of them to climb aboard this unproven commodity but they did. We have some of if not the strongest group of supporters in the entire family of these high school sites.

Most importantly, thank you for being loyal followers and supporters of stalbertsportsfan. We hope you keep coming back and we’ll do our best to keep giving you reasons to.
