Nick, I get that y'all want on the Sports Zone and you're on this week's show, but next time, ease up on the hey-fellow-dude-I'm-a-dude-too-don't-I-look-hot-in-fatigues approach. Bribes on the other hand would be readily accepted. Thanks, brother.

You're right, for real, we absolutely should provide more cross country coverage and will make it a point from now on. As for the "real sport" comment, our bad, we should really quit putting fake sports on the air.

Memo to Sewer (ehem, I mean Sioux) City

Heelan aside, North, East and West own exactly ZERO wins over any Council Bluffs team in football this year. So, Sioux City folk, feel free to drop your pompous, holier than thou attitude about Council Bluffs.

TJ Turnaround

In conference-only statistics, the Jackets are 1st in scoring (36.2 pts/game), 1st in rushing (335.2 yds/game), and 1st in total offense (450.8 yds/gm). This, after being shutout in their first games of the season. Apparently, they frustrate opponents more than any team too, TJ also leads the conference in "opponent penalties" (32 total, for a 67.5 yd/game average.) However, don't expect penalties to be much of a factor against Heelan this Friday, they've only been flagged 14 times in four games. Plus, the game's in Sioux City, home of some of the best home-cooking in the state.

By the way, Heelan told Coach Strutzenberg they will not be allowed to use the locker room to change before the game. When I asked Strutz why, he said, "because they don't want us to." Come on Crusaders, you're the perennial conference champs, start acting like it and show some class, quit making 16 and 17 year old kids change outside in 40 degree weather.

Iowa State Wrestlers at Lewis Central

Not against each other, mind you, but ISU will take on Upper Iowa at LC on Sunday November 7th. Go ahead, Titans, I don't know you guys pulled off bringing the #5 team in the country to wrestle on your mat, but congratulations, anybody who cares anything about wrestling in the area will be there.

Seriously, Just Beat North

Reporter Ross Koley mentioned this on the Sports Zone this week, but it bears repeating. If AL wins at North on Thursday, I'm 99% certain they will be in the playoffs. I could not find one scenario in which they would be eliminated, then again we're not very bright, and the playoff formula is complicated, so don't take our word for it.

I'm Not Saying I Didn't Believe Him...

I just disagreed when St.Albert OL/DL Alex Sawatzke told us before the season started that the Falcons would be "as good, if not better" than the team that finished as the Class 1A Runner-up last season. Seriously, the Gentiles, Rochelle, Assmann, Murphy and crew aren't there and now they're better? It doesn't add up, but its true.

Quick Slants

-If you have Cox Digital Cable, you can watch the AL-TJ game for free anytime of the day. Its available on channel 998 (Choose Local then Sports and boom, there it is). Same with Reiver Volleyball and Lancer Hockey.

-The Bush/Cheney election is going to be a debacle. 10 potential lawsuits in 10 states. Great. Can't we just have co-presidents?

-If any team is capable of winning a 7-game series after being down 3-0, its the Red Sox. Conversely, if any team is capable of losing a 7-game series after being up 3-0, it's also the Red Sox.
