Come Sunday - St. Albert CC Song

Posted: 10/18/2018 - by Spencer Sanchez

As a tribute to the cross country teams, the latest On the Hill podcast features a parody song to the tune of Jimmy Buffett's "Come Monday," one of Head Coach Russ Sindelar's favorite songs.

Here are the words if you want to sing along...

Come Sunday – St. Albert Cross Country Song

Started at Logan-Magnolia - Headin' up to San Francisco

For this year’s Cross Country Schedule - For the Labor Day weekend show,

I’ve got my runnin’ shoes on, - I've got my hush-puppies on,

I guess I never was meant for - I guess I never was meant for

Sittin’ on my bum. - Glitter rock and roll.

But Coach Russ I didn’t know - And honey I didn't know

That you’d be running me so… - That I'd be missin' you so.

Come Sunday, it’ll be all right - Come Monday It'll be all right,

Come Sunday, there’s no meets in my sight - Come Monday I'll be holding you tight.

I spent two Saturdays on a track in C-B - I spent four lonely days in a brown L.A. haze

And I just want to ice pack my thighs - And I just want you back by my side.

Yes, it’s been quite a season, - Yes, it's been quite a summer,

Meets at golf and country clubs - Rent-a-cars and west bound trains.

Top three the meet in Avoca - And now you're off on vacation,

Fourth place, the Heisterkamp kid - Somethin' you tried to explain.

For Girls Brenna Smith steals the show - And darlin' its I love you so

That’s the reason districts won’t be slow - that’s the reason I just let you go.

Come Sunday, it’ll be all right - Come Monday It'll be all right,

Come Sunday, there’s no meets in my sight - Come Monday I'll be holding you tight.

I spent last Thursday night at Shenandoah high - I spent four lonely days in a brown L.A. haze

And I just want to ice pack my thighs - And I just want you back by my side.

Garrigan, Hughes, Hill, Pauley - I can't help it honey,

Piskorski, Collett and Churchhill - You're that much a part of me now.

Remember that night at Homecomin’ when – Remember that night in Montana when

Luke Blaha was given the crown - We said there'd be no room for doubt.

For girls its Gracie and Keely - I hope you're enjoyin' the scenery,

Athena, Abi and Emma - I know that it's pretty up there.

Fifteen go hikin on Thursday - We can go hikin on Tuesday,

West Sioux meet in Hay-warden - With you I'd walk anywhere.

On the hill back and forth helps me win - California has worn me quite thin,

Hunting bull frogs coach Sindelar did - I just can't wait to see you again.

Come Sunday, it’ll be all right - Come Monday It'll be all right,

Come Sunday, there’s no meets in my sight - Come Monday I'll be holding you tight.

I see four banners splayed reppin’ cross country state - I spent four lonely days in a brown L.A. haze

And I just want to hang number five - And I just want you back by my side.

I see four banners splayed reppin’ cross country state - I spent four lonely days in a brown L.A. haze

And I just want to hang number five - And I just want you back by my side.
