Frances Josephine Hobbins passed away on May 10, 2018.

A 102 year resident of Pottawattamie County, she was born to Timothy and Nora Donovan on March 23, 1916. Frances attended school in Bentley, Iowa, and graduated from St. Joseph High School, in Neola, Iowa. In 1942, she married Joseph Hobbins and they resided in Neola throughout their lives.

She was among the first women to have a career working from home, serving as bookkeeper for Joe's fuel oil and gas business. Frances was committed to her strong Catholic faith and to lending a hand to neighbors and friends.

She was active in Neola St. Patrick's Parish. She provided transportation for many a friend and relative in need of medical care or other services. Frances was greatly influenced by her mother, who lived with the Hobbins family. She cared for her mother in the years before her death. After Joe's death, Frances moved to Council Bluffs where she lived with her sister, Helen.

Frances was very resilient, living to 102 despite numerous serious fractures and her affinity for pie! She was a superb pie maker.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Joe in 1989; sister, Helen Donovan; brother and sister-in-law, Timothy and Geraldine Donovan. She is survived by children, Molly Alfers (Ken), Tim Hobbins (Sherry), Patricia Freeman (Doug), Cathy Norton (Jeff) and Peggy Carlough (John). She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Rosary recitation, Friday, 6 p.m., followed by visitation until 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, 10:30 a.m., all at St. Patrick's Church, in Neola. Interment, St. Patrick's Cemetery, in Neola, with a luncheon to follow back at the church Educational Building.

Memorials are suggested to St. Albert Schools and St. Patrick's Parish, Neola.
