MadStatters' 2015 RAGBRAI Day 6 Report (last day for us)

Met up with Loras College friend of mine at noon on Thursday, and almost 12 hours later met up with William, a Coe College pal of my son's after he got off work. It was a short, but safe night. As you can see, it even made this little girl in Springville sleepy.

Waited for a train just outside Mt. Vernon.  Apparently watching the steel wheels of commerce made Joe and me hungry. Between us we consumed three of the best looking (and tasting) BLTs available on top of the highest hill in Linn County.

Just to show our collegiality with all denominations, here's the cornerstone of the Methodist Church in Mount Vernon.  The hospitality of the good folks there was top-notch. This nice gentleman was grilling some terrific pork kebabs.

No pictures of our triumphant completion, since we rode the last 15 miles in a steady rain. The showers started as we rolled out of Solon.

Once you are completely wet, everything is fine because you can become soaked no further. We decided it was better to ride in the rain than the blistering sun and humidity. It was fun. Truly.

We ended on a terrific high note as we rolled to the home of Katie (Bush) Burke, class of 2000. We dried off and showered before our wheel man, Kevin, brought us home to safety.

See you in 2016.
