Charlie's Prediction Time

As always, it's been a fun, fast fall On The Hill.

Speaking of On The Hill.  Great work and a BIG thank you to Spencer Sanchez and his team for their incredible podcast that was started this fall! Everyone On The Hill owes Spencer a lot of gratitude for this fine effort.  stalbertsportsfan has provided incredible coverage to the students, alumni, supporters and the greater St. Albert community for nearly 15 years and now this podcast has taken it to the next level.  Not many schools in the country have the coverage St. Albert has from essentially volunteers, let alone schools our size.

Finally, listen again to Marti Wolever's first 10 minutes and last 5-10 minutes.  You'll once again realize and understand what an incredible place St. Albert was and continues to be today.  The future remains bright On The Hill...

Unreal what the volleyball team did this year in the Hawkeye 10.  At St. Albert the goal has always been and will continue to be, State Tournaments and then working for a State Championship.  But this was a little different this year and extra special... Great work ladies!

Congrats to the Falcon Cross Country Team who once again qualified for State.  Another week to get healthier for the Falcons before heading to Fort Dodge for what should be a much faster course than last night.

Good luck to our Saintes swimmers in Regionals as well!

On to the Falcons...

Coach Culjat pretty well covered it in the podcast this week.  But I'll play my normal worry-wart self and Devil's advocate...

There's a reason BC Moore has the Vikings a 23 point favorite and in Vegas they're a 13.5 point favorite...

AHSTW also has Coaches that have prepared all year for this game and they've likely held a few things back.  They're players have also been putting in hard work and are more than ready for this game.  The Vikings also have speed, playmakers and two of the best athletes in the State in Halfback/Linebacker #34 Gabe Pauley and QB/DB #12 Blake Osbahr.  The Vikings will be ready...

And so will the Falcons!

Long gone is the undisciplined, poor special teams playing, ultra young group from the Logan-Magnolia & Underwood games.  These Falcons look different than a month ago and they finally have that 'edge' to them that great teams with small athletes need.

In the end at almost all levels of football, big/tight games come down to the same things:

Running the ball well & stopping the run (front 7/8)

Taking care of the ball & creating turnovers (little guys)

Playing penalty free (everyone)

Do these things and you have a chance.

In the end, AHSTW is the real deal and they are playing at home.  They are a deserved 2nd ranked in the State.  But... they're non-district schedule wasn't as strong as the Falcons (SA had Kuemper, Treynor & Underwood).  The Falcons have been more than tested.  They've been in tight contests, faced adversity and have been beaten.  They've responded well.  What happens if St. Albert takes an early lead or actually gets AHSTW into the deep end in the 4th quarter? How do the Vikings respond?

This is what it's all about... Getting on the road, having a great time in a lively environment and seeing our young representatives compete.  The Falcons will need your support so please be there if possible and watch the replay on the way home...

You and I both know I'm a homer but I also believe the Falcons can do this...

Give me the Falcons:

31-28
