Clement Crowley

The St. Albert family was sorry to see the passing of Clem Crowley this week.  Clem was a proud St. Albert Dad & Grandpa to many while supporting The Hill from Neola, IA.  Clem was a World War II Veteran and hero and he was a friend to all with his generous Irish smile.  It is fitting his visitation will be on St. Patrick's Day.  Please keep his family in your prayers this week and please now pray for the repose of Clem's soul...

Eternal rest grant unto Clem O Lord: And let perpetual light shine upon him.

May Clem rest in peace. Amen

May Clem's soul and the soul's of all the faithfully departed through the mercy of God our Father rest in peace. Amen

Clement Benedict Crowley, age 95, passed away March 13, 2019.

Clem was born August 16, 1923, in Avoca, Minn., the fourth child of James and Mary (Farrell) Crowley. He grew up in Avoca and graduated from Slayton High School in 1941. Clem attended Winona State Teachers College and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1942. He served in World War II with the 100th Infantry Division, 397th Regiment and received a Bronze Star for meritorious achievement. Following the war, Clem enrolled at Creighton University where he earned a BS in Pharmacy degree in 1950. That same year, Clem married Joan Doyle, a RN at Mercy Hospital, in Council Bluffs, and the daughter of James and Adeline Doyle, of Neola, Iowa. Clem's first job in pharmacy was with the Food and Drug Administration, in Minneapolis, Minn. Within a few years, a career opportunity led Clem, Joan and their young family to Neola where they established the Crowley Drug Store. The store not only served the community for 34 years, but it was where Clem and Joan taught their children how to be of service to others.

Following his retirement in 1992, Clem stayed active visiting his children, grandchildren and other family members, faithfully following the Creighton Bluejays basketball team, listening to Irish music and having an occasional pint at The Dubliner. Clem's smile, charm and genuine interest in people opened the door to many friendships. We all considered him our best friend.

Clem was preceded in death by his wife and parents; siblings, James (Marie) Crowley, Virginia (Bill) Sabinske, Norb (George) Costa, Marjorie (Ralph) Tentinger and Rose (Don) Paal.

He is survived by his seven children, Dr. Kevin (Lynn) Crowley, of Gulf Shores, Ala., Ann Crowley, of Omaha, Neb., Jim (Jennifer) Crowley, of Centennial, Colo., Dr. Tim (Celann LaGreca) Crowley, of Omaha, Tom (Dede) Crowley, of Omaha, Pat (Efren) Serra, of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Dr. John (Lori) Crowley, of St. Paul, Minn.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation, Sunday, March 17th, from 4 to 6 p.m., with a vigil service at 5 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, March 18th, at St. John Church at Creighton University, 2500 California Plaza, Omaha. Interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery, Neola, with military honors by the Neola American Legion Post #330, followed by lunch at St. Patrick Church Hall, in Neola.
